AGAIN WITH THE BARF BAGS!

At conventions i do drawings of your favorite character
throwing up. These are drawn onto airline barf bags.
Yes, yes...we all know I'm hilarious!!!
Here's Captain America not having such a good night.
I did an earlier post of these things which you can see HERE.
If i've done a barf bag for you, and you haven't already,
please send me a scan at akbarfbags@gmail.com
I'll gladly post as many as I get.
I keeps it real, ya'llz!

THE REVENANT

Here's a pinup I did for my buddy
Shannon Denton's book THE REVENANT.
The book is very much an homage
to pulp heroes of the 30s, like The Shadow.
The trade paperback was recently published by Desperado.
Thanks for looking.

GREY GRIFFINS

                                                        Madison's dragon, Calypso

                                                                        My version

My buddies Jon Lewis and Derek Benz co-write a book series called GREY GRIFFINS. It's about a group of four friends in Minnesota who find a magic book that sets them on a path to adventure. The kids have to save the world from all sorts of creatures from mythology that turn out to be real.
Jon and Derek ran a contest on their website for their readers to create their own Bounder Faerie. The winner was Madison M. from Florida. Her prize was a drawing by yours truly of her Bounder Faerie, a water dragon called Calypso.
Congratulations Madison. You're a much better artist than I was at your age. Keep drawing!

POWER GIRL

Just a quick drawing of Power Girl today.
Hope you like it.

VALENTINES DAY

                                                                front

                                                                 inside

Every Valentines Day I make my gal Lala a card. This is one from a couple of years ago.
She was my first real girlfriend right out of high school. We went out for a year and then broke up, but we remained friends.  Years later I went to visit her in Philadelphia where she lived at the time. Apparently she had room in her life for a card drawing, guitar string breaking, dipstick like me. All of a sudden we were back together! She's the best thing that's ever happened to me, and someday I will irritate her less. That's a promise. I'm a lucky, lucky, man.  Happy Valentines Day, La!

FRIDAY THE 13th

My buddy Rob Worley, the ace writer of "Young Ancient One", has done a series of articles at Mania.com. It's a promotion for the new Friday the 13th blockbuster called THE 13 DAYS OF FRIDAY THE 13th. Each day has a different artists interpretation of Jason Voorhees, and a short interview with that artist. I was day two, and here's my version of ol' JV. You can see the article HERE. Check out the interview. It's kinda funny, if you're into that sort of thing.
Make sure you look at the other artists versions too. A bunch of awesome guys contributed including Kelsey Shannon, Guy Davis, Rafael Albuquerque, and my man Francesco Francavilla.
Geniuses all, go look!

COMMISSIONS

For anyone interested in buying an art commission from me,
here are my rates. -updated 5/5/12-

LARGE COMMISSIONS-

Black and white, 10" x 16" on 300 lb. bristol, or glossy cardstock (my choice)- $200 US for the first character, and $50 US for every character after that, up to four total.

SMALL COMMISSIONS-

because of time and cost factors, i have discontinued doing smaller commissions from home. i still do lower priced, smaller commissions at comic shows.

I ship at your expense via USPS priority mail
with insurance and a tracking number.
This typically costs around $10 within the continental US.
Shipping internationally is more.

My accepted form of payment is Paypal.
I will start the commission after payment has cleared.
I try to get all commissions done within four weeks of payment.
My career comes first so there are times when
it may take me longer than that.

I take all commissions at my own discretion. I only do commissions of known, and already published characters. If you want to hire me to do a cover for your book feel free to contact me, but please realize that my rates for doing published work are considerably higher than my commission rates.

If you wish to commission a piece of original art from me,
you can contact me at - kuhnart@gmail.com
Thanks for your interest in my work. Have a great day.

VAMPIRELLA

Here's a sketch i did at Wizard World Texas last year.
It's that bawdy little bloodsucker Vampirella.
I was pretty happy with the way this drawing turned out.
It kinda reminds me of Rafael Albuquerque's work,
and i love me some Albuquerque!
Hope ya'll dig it!

JOKER FOR CHARITY

I'm a little slow on posting this, but at Wizard World Texas in november of last year they had a live art event for charity. This Joker drawing is the piece i did for it. The drawing is about two and a half, by three and a half feet, and it's done in ink and poster paint. My buddy Phil Hester also did a sweet drawing of Darkseid at the same event. The two standout drawings were a badass Joker by Lee Bermejo, and a beautiful Captain America by Marko Djurdjevic.
I got started late and was the last guy drawing. If only I could have had about twenty more minutes....oh well, maybe next time.

All my other items are HERE.
Hope you dig it.

COOL HERC

A little over a year ago i did a bunch of illustrations for a childrens book  adaptation of  THE TWELVE LABORS OF HERCULES. It came out from a company called Magic Wagon and was written by my buddy Shannon Denton.
I think if I had the chance to do it over today, I'd probably draw it in a much more cartoony, animated style. At the time I was very much interested in this brushy technique with heavily spotted blacks.  I'm pretty happy with the way some of the drawings came out, though. I'll post some of them from time to time.
This is labor number four in which Hercules had to trap the giant Erymanthian boar.
Thanks for looking.
