Firebreather Marker Sketch

Just a quick one today. Here's a marker sketch i did
as i was preparing to start the new FIREBREATHER series.
I do a ton of sketching in brushmarker on tracing paper.
I love the way that that the tracing paper takes the marker.
Hope you like it.

Next Issue Project

Here's the cover to Next Issue Project #1. It came out three weeks ago. This is one of the coolest comics I've ever seen, let alone been involved with. Everyone reading this should go out and buy five copies! With contributions by Erik Larsen, Joe Casey, Bill Sienkiewicz, Mike Allred, Ashley Wood and many more including you're humble blogger, this book is all killer, and no filler! Here's what Erik Larsen has to say about it....

"Now, I’m not one to toot my own horn. I really have tried to use this space to do something other than plug my own stuff. Sure, I could rattle on at length about "Savage Dragon" each and every column or plug various books, but my thought was to talk to fans as a fan rather than as a publisher. If I want to plug Image Comics (and they’re certainly worth plugging) there are places where I can do that. But I can’t help myself. This comic book is awesome."

If you can't believe the books publisher, who can you believe?
i was trying to find some of my roughs for this story but i think i threw out all my preliminary work...OOPS!
Take my word, and Eriks word for it, this book is great! If you don't know, now you know

Pages 1, and 6, of my Next Issue Project story
I'm having trouble uploading the colorfiles,
but I'll get it figured out eventually!

Brit #4 Layouts

Along with my work on Firebreather, I am currently doing layouts for the incomparable Cliff Rathburn on the book Brit. The book is the brainchild of Robert Kirkman, the hardest working man in comics. This current series however, is being written by Bruce Brown, and it's been a wild ride!
Here are the first four pages of my layouts to issue #4, which just came out last week. I'm having a great time doing this book, and Cliff is knocking it outa' the park! Enjoy.
A big thanks to everyone who has posted a reply. The kind words are very encouraging. I'm sorry I haven't replied personally to any of the posts but I'm new to the blogger experience , and i'm still figuring this website out.

FIREBREATHER #1 cover roughs

Here are nine of the more than forty tries i did for the cover to issue #1.
Initially I was going for a more iconic, pinup style cover. these were all done during that stage. Phil Hester, and Erik Larsen both said they'd like to see a cover that had more story elements to it. I agree, I think they were both right. none of these made the cut, however, I do like a couple of them. Who knows, they might get used for something down the road.

I also put up a rough that Erik Larsen sent me as a suggestion for a different direction.
Although i like it, this idea was also not used. The colors were just to give me an idea of what all the shapes are and how they interact! Larsen is the greatest!!!

I'm trying to post at least every other day. So please come back, and bring a million of your friends with you! Stay great!

First Post!

My name is Andy Kuhn and i draw funnybooks!
I know i'm late to the party, but i'm starting an art blog.
Please bear with me while i learn how to use a computer
in public.

This first post is a drawing of Hercules done last year for a
childrens book adaptation of "The Twelve Labors of Hercules".
I did thirty different illustrations for it and i'll prolly post more of those later.
I'll be posting some of my new FIREBREATHER art shortly.
Thanks for taking an interest in my work, and keep watching for the awesome!
