SILVER SURFER II

This is a drawing I did for the
Heroes-Con program book a couple of years ago.
I didn't like the way it turned out.
I ended up doing a completely new one.
In hindsight I think it turned out okay,
but I still prefer the drawing I ended up using.
You can see that drawing HERE ,
and then decide for yourself.
Stay cool people!

SHADOWPACT

A while ago I did breakdowns for my buddy,
genius artist, Kieron Dwyer on SHADOWPACT #20.
I wasn't credited in the issue because I was hired by Kieron and not DC comics.  He was very booked up and needed some help to bring the book in on time.
Here are some of my breakdowns from that issue.
If you're interested in finding more work by Kieron Dwyer
I highly recommend XXX ZOMBIES. It's a great story done in extremely poor taste!
Thanks for looking.

MANGA FIGHT!

This is a piece I did several years ago for a how to draw manga book
written by Chris Hart. It's not exactly manga, but it was fun to draw.
Although I am not a Manga artist, I have drawn three issues of Digimon.
I think the fact that I have an animation background makes it a little
easier for me to change my style up.
Here's the funny thing about this drawing. I recently went to an art supply store here in Albuquerque, and they had made a huge billboard of this piece
on the side of the building. The sign had the legend "Manga Art Supplies" on it.
they had no idea that I had drawn it. They just picked it out of a book that they were selling,
because they thought it looked cool! Thanks for the high five Langells!

CHEAP ART SUPPLIES

I love to peruse non-art supply stores for cheap art supplies. These are usually art products aimed at kids. I like to take products aimed at non-professionals and see what can be done with them. I recently found these at Target. They're called Elmers PAINTASTICS.
They are basically a cheap version of a japanese water brush loaded with various colors in the barrel of the brush.
Normally a decent quality waterbrush unloaded is $8 to $12. Add in a bottle of Dr. Martins dye and that's another $5 to $8. That's about $20 for one. This package of five PAINTASTICS waterbrushes was under $5. It's clearly a lower quality product, but they are pretty fun to play with. Below is a drawing I did with the PAINTASTICS. If you're bored check 'em out, they're pretty fun!

THE BURNING EYE

A while ago i did a 24HOUR COMIC. The 24HC is an idea started by Scott McCloud and Steve Bissette. To participate you have to write and draw an entire 24 page comic, in 24 hours. To learn more about the concept go HERE
Instead of doing mine in one day, I took the first hour of my workday for 24 days strait and drew a page. I started with no real idea in mind, just a conversation between a father and son. By the time I got to page six or so I had gotten a ton of ideas.  I soon realized that this was going to be a 200+ page story. My story is called THE BURNING EYE and it turned out to be a thriller set partly in WWII and partly in the present day.
What I have now is the first sequence in a yet to be completed, 200 page, 24 HOUR COMIC.
At some point i will finish this, and publish it. Till then, here's a few pages from the first 24.

BATMAN BEYOND

Batman Beyond is one of my favorite cartoons ever.
It's a really smart re-imagining of the Batman mythos.
Here's a drawing I did recently of Bruce Timms' slick simple design.
Hope you like it!

Here's a pinup that I did for an awesome
little book called The Perhapanauts.
It's written by Todd Dezago and drawn
by the incredible Craig Rousseau.
The printed version of this appeared
in their first trade and was colored by
my man Sean "Cheeks" Galloway.
I like drawing giant eyeballs!

HEAVY METAL

It's official, I get to write and draw a story
for HEAVY METAL magazine! Admit it,
you think that's awesome too!
It's gonna be co-written by my buddy Andy Suriano.
He's the artistic genius behind the amazing
Image comic Charlatan Ball.
The story is about a badass female bounty hunter in space
named Balboa Blackacre. Above is the tryout piece that
got me the job. It won't be out till september or october,
so for now, all you can do is enjoy this drawring.
Thanks for looking.
