One more quick sketch from Charlotte.

This guy had a book full of Spider-Man villains and cereal.

I had to go with The Lizard. Don't ask what it's all about,

I gots no idear!

FIREBREATHER - GROWING PAINS

Hitting stores this wednesday (7/1) is a reprint of our 

original four issue mini series titled Growing Pains. 

This is combined with the sixty page one shot The Iron Saint.

Both of these stories have been out of print for quite some time. 

Phil and I are super jazzed to be able to make them available again.

There are new pages in The Iron Saint story, 

as well as a new Iron Saint sketchbook.

QUASAR

Continuing on with another convention sketch.

This drawing of Quasar was done a couple 

of years ago at a show in Kansas City. 

I love the KC shows because I get to see 

all of my comics friends who live out that way.

Funnybook guys and barbecue, 

it's a winning combination!

THANOS

Here's a sketch of Thanos done at 

last years Wizard World Chicago.

I am a huge fan of Jim Starlins early work 

on Captain Marvel and Warlock. 

Hopefully I did at least small justice

to one of his greatest creations.

SHAZAM!

Here's another sketch done at Heroes-Con last weekend.

It's my own scary take on the big red cheese Captain Marvel.

I'm posting this to remind myself, try to think of other solutions 

besides an all black background when you're at a con sketching.

This drawing took a lot longer than it probably should've. 

The image completely disregards the essential good nature 

of the character. Other than that glaring flaw, 

I thought it came out okay.

Don't forget to take the trash out!

FRANKENSTEIN

Here's a recent commission of the most 

famous monster of them all, Frankenstein.

This was done as a companion piece 

to a drawing I did in April of The Bride.

RAVAGER

Here's the first drawing I did at Heroes-Con.

It was early friday and I woke up approximately 

an hour and a half after I finished this.

Did i mention how awesome Heroes-Con was!

DEATH

I am back from Charlotte and I had a great time!

This is the drawing I did for this years Heroes-Con program book.

It's my favorite badass from old 70s comic book ads COUNT DANTE'.

I realize this is only cool to me, and two other old dudes, but I like it!

CAPTAIN AMERICA GETS THE FINGER!

This is the first page from my six issue run on Marvel Team-Up.

I had a great time working with Robert Kirkman and 

drawing these characters. I'd love to do it again sometime.

KEITH GIFFEN SAYS....

I am somebody!!! 

In the latest installment of his semi-regular 

CBR column "An Unfortunate Confluence of Words" 

Keith lists 50 reasons he's still glad to be doing comics. 

At the end of the article he gives a list of

He lists me at number one. Here's what Keith had to say.

which was written by Keith, and my buddy Shannon Denton.

The book was originally supposed to be drawn by me,

CLAYFACE

Here's a drawing of Clayface that i did at the ABQ Collectors Con 

last month. This was done for an excellent local artist David Harrigan.

David was cool enough to do this sweet coloring job on it.

DUAL LIGHTING

Here's a sketch I did recently. 

I've been playing around with dual lighting effects.

It's a very dramatic look when it's done well.

I tend to forget to use it, 

which is why I've been practicing it.
